Kick-off meeting on a joint Russian-Greek project held in Athens
The project is funded by the Federal Target Program "R&D in Priority Areas for the Development of the Russian Science and Technology Complex for 2014-2020" and from the funds of the Partnership Agreement for 2014-2020 between Greece and the European Union. Russian partners (Lobachevsky University and National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute") were represented at the meeting by Dr. A.N. Mikhailov, Head of the laboratory at the UNN PTRI and Dr. V.A. Demin, Head of the Kurchatov complex of NBICS-technologies. The meeting was held at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of the Greek National Center for Scientific Research "Democritus" (NCSRD), which coordinates the activities of Greek partners in the consortium (Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), University of Patras (UoP) and the Foundation for Research and Technology "Hellas" (FORTH). The project is aimed at the development and testing of memristive nanomaterials and devices as components for new computer systems based on impulse (spike) neural networks, logic-in-memory circuits and quantum algorithms. During the meeting, the sides formally exchanged signed agreements on cooperation, discussed the results of preliminary studies, joint publications (one article was recently published in the journal Microelectronic Engineering) and coordinated their plans for further work and project activities.
